Fire Chief Message from Chief Erik Vierheilig:
As we ring in the New Year, I would like to start off by congratulating outgoing Chief Mark Vogelsang for a safe 2014 and wish the best of luck to my 2015 fire officers; Asst Chief Larry Rauch, Captain Craig Sklar, Lt LJ Lupinacci, and Lt. Brandon Bach.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our Facebook followers and thank everyone for their support of the USRFD over the years. Without the support of the mayor, council, administration and the residents, we would not be able to successfully remain a professional volunteer organization that strives to serve the community in which we reside. We are truly neighbors helping neighbors and remain on call 24/7/365.
We cannot forget to remember the two members that the fire department lost in 2013; Firefighter Oscar Greene and Ex-Chief Lou Manke. You both will certainly be missed.
Please stay tuned to our Facebook page regularly as we continue to bring you constant updates on calls, upcoming events, and important fire safety tips to keep you and your families safe and more.
The volunteer fire department of Upper Saddle River currently has close to 50 active members and 4 junior firefighters but we are always looking for new members. Please contact us for more info.
Thank you all again and I look forward to serving as the fire chief of the USRFD in 2015. Please feel free to contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org at any time should you have any questions or comments. Have a happy and safe New Year!
