The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for our area. A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are expected due to a combination of strong winds, low humidity, and dry fuels. Any fires that develop may quickly get out of control and become difficult to contain.
With that being said, the USRFD strongly advises against the use of chiminea, backyard fire pits, or any type of open burning. Embers from these types of fires can very easily ignite dry leaves or vegetation. Barbecuing in a grill, either propane or natural gas fed, is the only acceptable outdoor cooking method that should be used.
In the event of a brush fire, call the fire department immediately. Should you have any questions, please contact Chief Vierheilig of the USRFD at 1230@usrfd.org or message us here on Facebook.
